Michelle Lucca School of Dance
ABOUT US

Michelle Lucca School of Dance was established in 2003, however the dance school itself has been passed down from owner to owner throughout the last 60 years. Children growing up in Ponsonby, Herne Bay, Westmere and Point Chevalier throughout this time often took their first steps in dance at the Anglican Church of Ascension Hall in Dignan Street, Point Chevalier. A tradition we still continue today!

Our mission is to provide an encouraging, fun environment where everyone shares the love of dance with each other, developing self confidence, musicality and awareness to achieve goals.

CLASS INFORMATION

Our students are taught syllabus work throughout the year, with the intention of sitting RAD grade/vocational exams or presentation classes, and NZAMD exams or medal awards. We offer classes in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap and Stretch & Strengthening. Students can start anytime during the year, from the age of 3.

TROUPES AND SOLO COMPETITIONS

Dedicated students also have the opportunity to be involved in our Competition Troupes via audition, as well as Solo Competitions. These students learn dances throughout the term and when ready enter competitions in Auckland and around the North Island. If you are interested please talk to your teacher as we have some private lesson times available.

CONCERT

Every two years students also dance in our mid-year show. This involves the whole school and is held at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre, Epsom Girls Grammar School. Because this only happens every two years we have decided this year to have our first SENIOR SHOW - scheduled to be held during December! This gives our senior students the chance to show off their skills and gain more performance experience. Keep a look out under NOTICES for more information on this.
